National Bank puts into circulation the coin “Mihai Eminescu” in gold and silver

National Bank puts into circulation the coin “Mihai Eminescu” in gold and silver

The reverse shows a portrait of Mihai Eminescu, an eight-pointed star and an open book, the inscription in a semicircle Mihai Eminescu and the years of life (1950-1889), while the obverse shows the coat of arms of Moldova, the year of issue of the coin, the denomination, weight and metal.

In particular, in gold, the coin with a nominal value of 100 lei is issued in an edition of 500 copies. Its weight is 7.8 grams, diameter – 2.4 cm, while the weight of the silver coin is 31.1 grams, diameter – 3.7 cm and its circulation is 1000 copies. The coin is put into circulation from August 29 as a means of payment and for numismatic purposes.

Licensed banks independently set the selling price of commemorative coins, which can not exceed 3% of the price set by the National Bank. In the economy, commemorative coin is a means of payment and is accepted at its face value.

As a reminder, the year 2025 is declared the Year of Mihail Eminescu in Moldova, and events dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the poet’s birth are held throughout the country during the year.
