Kapmoale competed in the youth competition in the under 67 kg weight class, Ursak competed among the under 14 and under 50 kg athletes, and Antoch competed among the under 10 and over 34 kg athletes.
At the top of the podium
Before reaching the final, Alexander Kapmoale defeated Milos Jovanovic (North Macedonia), Robert Dumitru (Romania), Sergey Stankov (Ukraine), Kirills Sorokhovs (Latvia) and Zoltan Szombor (Hungary).
In the final fight, the 19-year-old Moldovan karate fighter faced another Ukrainian – Nazarius Prannichuk. Capmoale defeated him 5:2. The bronze medals were won by Sorokhovs and Filip Hornak (Czech Republic).
The younger generation of karate athletes
Petru Ursak after victories over athletes from Denmark, Norway, Latvia and twice Slovakia lost the gold medal in the final of the competition among athletes under 14 years old to the Ukrainian Oleksandr Shmidov. The bronze medalists were Jan Peter Holub (Slovakia) and Daniel Kupryak (Poland).
Eldar Antoch after defeat in 1/32 finals of the tournament among karate fighters under 10 years old got an opportunity to compete for the small finals. He knocked out opponents from Ukraine and Slovakia, and won the bronze medal thanks to his victory over Vojtech Pitonak from the Czech Republic.
Another representative of Moldova at the Grand Prix of Slovakia was Maxim Bogomaz, who competed in the competition among athletes under 14 years old in the category up to 50 kg. He failed to overcome the 1/4 finals stage.
More than 3.8 thousand athletes from 45 countries took part in the tournament held in Bratislava.
