This will be possible due to the fact that the Moldovan parliament ratified on April 30 an agreement between Moldova and France in the social security field.
The document establishes a framework of social security guarantees for migrant workers from Moldova working in France, as well as for French people residing in Moldova. The provisions will be applied to salaried and self-employed workers, business travelers, staff of diplomatic missions and consular offices, etc.
Under the Agreement, citizens will receive pensions for old age, disability due to general illness and survivors’ pensions.
According to the proportional principle of pension calculation, each contracting party will pay a part of the pension calculated in proportion to the length of insurance service worked in its territory. Periods of service in both countries can be added together to qualify for a pension. At the same time, the pension can be applied for in the state of residence – in Moldova or in France, and the payment will be made monthly, regardless of the state of residence of the citizen.
The Government and other state institutions are instructed to take the necessary measures to implement the provisions of this Agreement.
The agreement between Moldova and France in the social security field was signed in Paris on March 10, 2025. Our country has concluded similar agreements with 18 states.
