Moldovan authorities tighten control over cattle trucks

The government has tightened the requirements for the entry into Moldova of vehicles for the transportation of animals used for food products and some goods intended for human use. The cabinet decision specifies under what conditions these goods can be allowed to enter the country, what documents must accompany them and what conditions must be met for the products to reach the market.

In particular, imported products of animal origin must come from authorized states or regions, from officially approved enterprises, and be accompanied by documents of compliance with the requirements of traceability, hygiene, residues and contaminants.

The problem is very relevant in the context of the complex epizootic situation in neighboring countries, in particular, in connection with the focal spread of African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease.

The implementation of the decision will be ensured by the National Agency for Food Safety, which will also approve the lists of states or regions from which the import of relevant animals and goods into Moldova will be allowed.
