Moldovan Ambassador to Israel: Security of Moldovans depends on compliance with protective measures

“The safety of Moldovan citizens in the State of Israel is directly proportional to the observance of precautions, especially taking cover during rocket attacks and drone attacks. Everyone’s life depends on strict adherence to the instructions of the Home Front Command. The Embassy is in constant contact with the authorities and citizens, periodically informing them of changes in the security situation,” Alex Roitman told the Romanian publication Adevărul.

15,000 Moldovan citizens at risk

There are about 15,000 Moldovan citizens living in Israel, scattered in different regions of the country, the Moldovan ambassador to Israel said.

“The Moldovan community is scattered throughout the country: in the center, south and north. Unfortunately, attacks take place all over Israel. Therefore, the security situation is the same everywhere,” the diplomat added.

Alex Roitman says most Moldovans remain calm, except for those who are facing a military conflict for the first time.

“I should note that our citizens, for the most part, remain calm and do not panic. Of course, there are also cases when people find themselves in such a situation of military conflict for the first time, so they are a bit frightened by what is happening. At the same time, after the discussions, they calmed down and realized that it is necessary to take precautions to protect their lives,” concluded Alex Roitman, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Israel.

Deserted streets

The ambassador said that in Tel Aviv, where he is now, the streets are empty most of the time, people hide in shelters and come out only between rocket attacks, which are very rare. But when the sirens sound, everyone quickly returns to their shelters.

So far, no Moldovan citizens have been reported injured

Meanwhile, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said that the crisis headquarters is monitoring the security developments in the Middle East and that there are no Moldovan citizens among the victims.

“According to the results of the checks carried out jointly with the competent authorities, no injured or wounded persons have been registered among Moldovan citizens,” the ministry said in a statement published on its website today.
