The Alliance for the Unification of Romanians candidate made this statement on Sunday in front of foreign journalists.
Calin Georgescu confidently won the first round of elections at the end of last year and everything spoke about his imminent final victory in the second round. But that Romanian presidential election was canceled, causing an international scandal.
Georgescu was not allowed to participate in the current elections, the first round of which was held on May 4. Instead of him from the far-right forces and was nominated by George Simion. Many Romanian citizens met with anger the decision to cancel last year’s elections and prevent Calin Georgescu from the current one. The fruits of this anger largely predetermined the victory of George Simion in the first round on May 4.
He himself also considers the persecution of Georgescu unfair. That’s why he told foreign journalists that he is ready to offer the disgraced politician the post of prime minister or find another way to “bring” him back to running the country. “If the Romanian people want, there are several ways in which Georgescu can be brought back to the leadership, and we will use them,” Giorghe Simion said.
