It is worth noting in this regard that the need to reform the VAT system in accordance with the recommendations of the European Union, the corporate community of the agri-food sector of the Moldovan economy has been discussing for several years. In particular, one of the most important aspects of this reform is considered by many to be the introduction of an equilibrium (single) VAT rate for the entire production chain – “from fork to fork”, from resources and agricultural raw materials to food. At the same time, a number of experts believe that the optimal option is not to reduce the “across-the-board” VAT to 8% (as on some types of raw materials and foodstuffs) or to raise it to the standard rate of 20%, but to set a “compromise” rate within the range of 12-14%.
In addition to VAT rates, Forța Fermierilor intends to discuss with the members of the specialized commission of the Parliament the problems of reimbursement of excise duty on diesel fuel to farmers on a permanent basis, inclusion of the grain sector as a priority in the Strategic Plan of Agrarian Policy (PSPA), refinancing of agricultural producers during the crisis, protection of the interests of local producers in the domestic market of agro-food products.
