exports and imports

In the first month of the year it amounted to 264.9 million euros (since this year the NBS publishes statistical data in European currency, not in dollars), increasing by 13% compared to January last year.

Exports increased in all groups of countries – to the CIS by 10%, to the EU by 19% and to other countries by 2%.

As before, the increase in exports is linked to the harvest in 2025.

Exports of agricultural products in fresh and processed form increased by 32% or EUR 34.6 million, while total exports increased by EUR 30.3 million.

As for imports, they amounted to 698.5 million euros in January and increased by only 0.5% or 3.6 million euros.

As a result, the trade deficit narrowed by 26.7 million euros or 6%.

Importantly, as a result of a significant increase in exports of foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials, they significantly exceeded their imports (by 31.5%).

Relevant products were exported in the amount of EUR 144.3 million and imported in the amount of EUR 109.7 million, i.e. the balance of trade in fresh and processed agricultural products, including alcohol and tobacco, is positive. As is the case for 2025 as a whole.

Although in June last year there was a negative balance on these products – imports of food products and agricultural raw materials exceeded their exports. That is, the high harvest helped again.
