“Energocom imported more than 90% of electricity in 2025

As noted in the company’s press release, to make imports, it participated in more than 1,500 cross-border capacity reservation auctions, including 365 daily auctions (Day Ahead) and more than 1,100 intra-day auctions (Intra Day), of which more than 300 were night auctions. Energy was purchased from 8 local and 10 foreign companies, mainly from Romania and Ukraine, as well as on the spot markets of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, managed by OPCOM, BRM and OPEM. In this context, more than 100 framework and individual contracts necessary for energy trade were concluded and signed.

In 2025, for the first time in the Republic of Moldova, electricity imports were carried out using cross-border capacity purchased during the day, thanks to the capacity reallocation mechanism agreed and implemented by Moldelectrica together with Transelectrica and other system operators in the region. Similarly, Energocom has test procured energy in the Next Day Market and During the Day Market, recently launched by OPEM.

As a central supplier of electricity, the company procured more than 950 thousand MWh generated by more than 200 eligible renewable producers, as well as cogeneration plants from Termoelectrica and CET-Nord.

Also this year, for the first time, electricity was purchased from a local producer using battery energy storage systems (BESS), marking the integration of energy supplied from battery storage into the portfolio of contracted sources. This solution contributes to grid stability, reduces load during peak hours and facilitates more efficient use of locally produced renewable energy.
