
The requirements apply not only to the enterprises themselves, but also to their subdivisions, in which revenues from the sale of goods and/or provision of services by means of cash registers exceeded the amount of 500 thousand lei in the previous year. They will be obliged to ensure acceptance of non-cash payments in Moldovan lei through payment service providers licensed by the National Bank of Moldova.
This obligation also applies to information society service providers. This refers to services provided by electronic means, including the sale of goods online.
It should be reminded that this obligation was introduced last year in Article 71 of Law No. 845/1992 on entrepreneurship and enterprises. It applies to all business entities, with the exception of savings and loan associations and non-bank credit organizations. The obligation has to be fulfilled until July 1 of this year in all subdivisions of companies whose annual revenues from trade in goods and/or services exceeded the amount of half a million lei.
These provisions do not apply if in the mentioned subdivisions and today the settlements are carried out only in the mode of non-cash payments. Except for settlements through commercial banks. And also in cases where they are located in villages (communes), except those located within municipalities and cities.
The new legal provisions also provide for sanctions for their violation. Failure to comply with them will result in a fine from 4000 to 6000 lei for each case.
