Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) is organizing a “second attempt” to launch the process of establishing one of the ten (statutory) regional chambers – this time in Cahul. A previous attempt to organize this process in Stefan Voda last week did not go quite according to plan. Some farmers who attended the event openly expressed their opposition to the need to organize such structures, CAPA noted in a press release.
“We believe that organizing such meetings at a time when the law is in the process of evaluating its constitutionality raises questions about the appropriateness of continuing preparatory procedures, pending clarification of the legal framework,” the CAPA board said. – Over the past 30 years, farmers and the state have made significant contributions to the development of numerous sectoral agri-food associations representing the interests of different sectors of agriculture. Now that these associations are sounding the alarm about the ineffective and superficial agricultural policies implemented by the State, the decision has been made to create this new system of non-profit and non-governmental organizations, mandatory for all farmers and indirectly politically affiliated.”
In this context, the CAPA Council requests the suspension of the process of establishing the Chambers of Agriculture until the Constitutional Court rules on the legality of Law No. 39/2025.
