“We talked about the possibilities of energy transportation from the United States to Ukraine via Romania. I thank Romania for these transit and logistics opportunities – it is very important for us during the war and beneficial for Romania, for Ukraine and for Moldova,” Zelensky said.

He also said that Ukraine and Romania were building two new electricity supply lines. Work on them has already started.

“This will support our regions, including the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine, and will allow Romania to become stronger in the issue of ensuring energy security in this part of Europe,” the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky also considers it important to jointly implement projects in the field of oil production in the Black Sea. Romania has already made significant steps in this direction, and now the parties have specific proposals in this regard,” the Ukrainian president specified.

“We have talked a lot about specific oil and gas projects – these are areas in which Romania can support us in overcoming the current challenges in the Middle East. We have great potential for strategic cooperation in this area. We should realize energy projects as soon as possible – it is important for us, for Romania and for the whole Europe,” Vladimir Zelenski concluded.

For his part, Nicusor Dan said that, thanks to the commitments made by Romania, the countries will become strategic energy partners. The focus will be on the interconnection of power grids, diversification of gas routes and efficient use of storage capacities, which will contribute to strengthening regional energy security.

In Bucharest, the Ukrainian president also held a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. During the conversation, the parties emphasized the importance of developing an energy network between Ukraine and Romania. Such a network will help Ukraine in times of deficit due to Russian strikes on the energy sector, and Romania in times of surplus, when it will be able to export electricity.
