"Youth Capital 2026" will receive 4 million lei
Alexander Petrov, director of the National Agency for Youth Affairs, noted at the ceremony of launching the new edition of the program that the goal of the initiative is to gradually increase the budget.
“We want to make the program more attractive to more localities, with one of the mandatory conditions for participation being co-financing at the local level,” Petrov stressed.
Education and Research Minister Dan Perchun reminded that there are a number of other programs for young people being implemented in parallel in the country. He promised that the ministry will continue to seek additional resources to support the initiatives realized in Balti.
The city wants to retain talents
Balti Municipality Mayor Alexandru Petkov emphasized that it is important for young people to have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in the city. He mentioned the high level of education and the municipality’s role as a university center in the north of Moldova.
Rector of the Aleku Russo State University Natalia Gasitsoi added that being the youth capital of the whole country is a great responsibility and a serious challenge for the city’s academic community.
The Youth Capital program was launched in 2011. The municipality of Cahul has received the title three times. Last year, the municipality of Edinec was the Youth Capital.
Also in 2025, the “Sports Capital” program was launched in Moldova. As already wrote Logos Press, in 2026 the city of Nisporeni became it. About 2 million lei will be allocated from the budget for the implementation of the project.
