World market: grains became cheaper before the long weekend

Thursday was the last working day on major trading floors before the Catholic Good Friday, declared a holiday in the countries of the Western branch of Christianity. Before the long weekend, wheat and corn prices fell by an average of $0.16-0.21/bushel, $3-5/t.

Thus, wheat quotations at all three major US exchanges. Thus, May futures for soft winter wheat at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange CBOT fell to $219.54/t. Hard winter wheat futures on the KCBT exchange in Kansas City with delivery in May fell to $225.51/t, and hard spring wheat futures on the MGEX exchange in Minneapolis – to $235.89/t. May corn futures also fell to $4.54/bushel, July futures to $4.65/bushel, and December futures to $4.81/bushel, zol.ru reported.

The French wheat market declined on Wednesday under pressure from lower oil prices and a stronger euro. At the end of the trading day, May quotations of milling wheat on the Paris MATIF exchange fell to €201.25/t (in dollar equivalent – to $232.50/t), September futures – to €210.75/t (to $243.48/t). June corn quotations fell to €206.75/t ($238.86/t), August quotations – to €209.25/t ($241.75/t).

On export markets, French, Russian and Ukrainian wheat with 11.5% protein content was valued at about $258-259/t (including freight).
