WIPO conference hall
This is the conclusion of analysts of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in the annual report for 2026, which will be presented on February 17.
The World Intellectual Property Report 2026 (WIPR 2026), entitled Technology on the Move, focuses on the mechanisms by which innovation diffuses through the economy and the factors that enable countries to effectively adopt new technologies for economic growth.
The paper explores how innovation spreads between countries and what factors allow economies to adopt new technologies effectively (diffusion of innovation). According to the authors, “the world is using its innovation potential inefficiently”.
WIPO this time presents a new type of analytical report that assesses countries’ strengths in four dimensions: science, technology, entrepreneurship and manufacturing. The aim is to provide policymakers and businesses with an analytical framework for evidence-based decision-making and to promote the development of innovation ecosystems.
The 2026 report continues WIPO’s biennial series of flagship publications (the previous 2024 report focused on innovation policies for development).
On the day of the official presentation of the report, the State Intellectual Property Agency of Moldova (AGEPI) invites you to join the event in an online format and participate in discussions on the topics: technology diffusion, generative artificial intelligence, the role of public policies in fostering innovation and technology transfer.
The full program of the event, as well as detailed information on the registration procedure, is available on the WIPO website.
