
Such data were published last week by Eurostat. The share of agriculture in GDP is significantly higher than the EU average in Greece (3.2%), Romania (2.5%) and Spain (2.3%). The contribution of agriculture to GDP is slightly lower in Bulgaria, Italy and Croatia – 1.8% or less.
At the same time, in 12 EU countries the share of the agricultural sector in GDP was less than 1%, and the lowest corresponding indicator is in Luxembourg and Malta (0.2%).
In the period from 2009 to 2024 in 15 EU countries there was an increase in the share of the value of agriculture in GDP. This process was most pronounced in Greece, Latvia and Spain. Whereas the contribution of agriculture to GDP in Romania decreased by 2.2 percentage points, in Bulgaria – by 1.4, Malta and Croatia – by 0.7 p. p., agrobiznes.ro writes.
In Moldova, over the past few years, the contribution of the agricultural sector to GDP has sharply decreased to 7-8%. Its maximum share was in the mid-90s – more than 15%.
