Construction works are being carried out on the territory of the former temporary landfill in the Ciocana sector of the capital. According to the information of the Chisinau City Hall and the municipal enterprise “Autosalubritate”, the reclamation works of the temporary landfill, where waste was stored between 2010 and 2017, are more than 70% of the total volume completed. Next is the completion of membrane laying, the installation of the gas collection network and the laying of the last layer of soil. The final stage of works will include landscaping of the territory.
The reclamation is carried out in accordance with the European Union standards and for the first time in Moldova. At the second site for the construction of a transshipment station with a waste sorting line, the excavation works have been completed and the teams have moved on to the first stages of concreting the main infrastructure. This started with the building that will house the repair shop and car wash for special vehicles and trucks. In parallel, work continues on the construction of the transshipment station itself. Overall, the works are about five months ahead of schedule.
