Media: Iranian drone strikes a high-rise in Dubai

On the evening of March 7, an Iranian drone struck the 23 Marina Tower high-rise residential building in Dubai. UAE officials have not yet commented on the incident.

According to Tehran’s statement, the target of the attack was the US military. Footage from the scene shows thick smoke. It is still unclear whether it was a direct hit or falling debris after an attempted interception by UAE air defense forces.

Meanwhile, authorities reported that one person was killed in Dubai on March 7 when debris fell after an “aerial interception” on a car. The incident took place in the Al Barsha neighborhood, which “resulted in the death of an Asian driver,” AFP news agency quoted the authorities’ statement as saying.

Iran attacks

Since February 28, Iran has launched missiles and drones at Israel and the Gulf states where US military installations are located. Some of the attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and damage.

Iranian strikes damaged Dubai International Airport, debris from intercepted drones caught fire at the famous Burj al-Arab Hotel, and a fire also broke out near the Fairmont Hotel on the prestigious Palm Jumeirah artificial island.
