Such figures are contained in the bill on the U.S. defense budget for the 2026th fiscal year, which began on October 1, 2025. The document was published on the website of the US Congress in early December last year, RBC reports.
At the same time, Washington is not ready to promise Ukraine an increase in support in the absence of progress in the settlement of its conflict with Russia. This was stated by US President Donald Trump in an interview with The New York Times.
If peace agreements with Russia are reached and their terms are observed, the United States is ready to commit to US participation in the future defense of Ukraine, Trump added. But this will take place within the framework of the military supply scheme launched last year – the United States sells arms to European NATO countries, and those already transfer them to Ukraine. Donald Trump considers this one of his main achievements. At the beginning of November last year, he said that the US had stopped spending money on Ukraine, but on the contrary – started to receive additional funds through the sale of weapons to NATO.
According to the Kiel Institute for International Economics, which tracks support for Ukraine by different countries, by mid-2025, the United States has become Kiev’s largest donor in absolute terms, providing a total of $183 billion. This includes a budget of almost $11 billion directly to the U.S. Department of Defense for military supplies to Ukraine.
