“We have not been able to get the Iranians to accept our terms. I think we have shown enough flexibility,” The Wall Street Journal quoted U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance as saying. He led the U.S. delegation.

According to Vance, the U.S. team was “very gracious” to the Iranians and faithfully followed President Donald Trump’s instructions to “come in good faith and make every effort to reach an agreement.”

For its part, the Iranian side claims that the U.S. imposed conditions unacceptable to Tehran during the talks and was looking for an excuse to interrupt the negotiations.

In particular, Iran did not accept the US conditions on the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear energy, RBC reported citing Iran’s Fars news agency. A source close to the negotiating team clarified for Fars, “The Americans demanded in the negotiations everything that they could not achieve by war.” It is claimed that they are talking about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the renunciation of the nuclear program.
