“Now that Iran is dead, America’s greatest enemy is the radical leftist, grossly incompetent Democratic Party,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
The Republican and Democratic parties in the United States have dominated state politics since the mid-19th century, when they effectively formed the country’s two-party system.
The modern U.S. two-party system consists of the Democratic and Republican parties, which have consistently won presidential elections since 1852 and controlled Congress since 1856. Since the 1930s, Democrats have generally occupied a slightly left-of-center position in American politics, while Republicans have been right-of-center.
In addition to the two major parties, there are dozens of federal third parties, not counting regional parties, but they have little influence on politics.
