The main change is a new front end inspired by the restyled Land Cruiser 70 series, writes Carscoops. ProBox “got a face”: round LED-headlights, expressive grille with a mesh pattern and brutal bumper made of unpainted plastic. Extended wings and more relief hood make the proportions of the car more dynamic and “off-road” than the original characterless van.
Details are worked out with attention to the original elements of the classic LC70: there is a characteristic mirror on the fender, and turn indicators, and even a decorative plug AdBlue, although the standard ProBox is equipped only with gasoline or self-charging hybrid power plants. The profile of the car is accentuated by plastic overlays on the arches, wide wheels with meaty rubber, suspension elevator and roof rack – all of which enhance the adventurous look.
At the rear, tuners replaced the standard lights and covered them with body-colored overlays, and on the custom bumper placed rectangular sections reminiscent of accessories from real off-roaders. The studio shows several styling options – from black with retro decals to beige for overlanding or vintage blue.
The interior is left to the owner’s discretion: premium materials, updated multimedia, decorative inserts and trunk protectors are possible. The base remains the same – ProBox Series 160 with an atmospheric 1.5-liter engine (107 hp) and a variator, available as front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
In Japan, base tuning starts at around $9400, with the finished 70 BOX on sale marked down to around $24,200.
