The state is "leading by example" and going into austerity mode

This instruction was given by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

“In the context of a tense international economic situation and increasing pressure on energy and fuel prices, the state should set an example of financial discipline and responsibility for the use of public funds,” the prime minister said.

Priority in the spending of public finances will now be given exclusively to critical areas: infrastructure, functioning of vital public services and maintaining economic stability.

Particular attention is paid to restrictions on the increase in the number of personnel, salary increases and the creation of new units, so that financial resources are directed strictly to the fulfillment of priority tasks.

Agencies will be required to justify any changes to contracts and submit weekly reports on canceled procurement procedures and contract reductions.
