In the work on cleaning the national roads involved 80 units of machinery; overnight used about 694 tons of anti-icing materials.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu urged all the relevant ministries and institutions to act in line with the established protocol and the decisions taken.
He warned about a possible worsening of the weather conditions in the next hours.
“We are following what is happening in Ukraine and in Romania. I believe that weather conditions may worsen in the coming hours – it is necessary to act as we agreed. To ensure the safety of our citizens first and foremost and to assist local authorities in situations that may arise. We have already gone through similar situations and I am sure that we will manage this time as well,” the prime minister said.
The State Meteorological Service reminds that the yellow and orange weather danger codes are in force in the country: snow, wet snow and increased wind are expected, as well as ice, poor visibility and traffic difficulties.
Under these conditions, the National Road Administration informs that road traffic is subject to winter conditions.
In addition, several flights between Chisinau and Bucharest have been canceled due to snowfall.
A part of schools, including in the capital, are online today. Further decisions will be taken according to the situation.
The Main Directorate for Emergency Situations informs that more than 400 employees have been put on duty and are ready to act in emergency situations. 145 units of equipment are used to deal with risks and help the population in difficult conditions.
