ANRE has set new maximum fuel prices that will be in effect from March 28-30.
Gasoline will rise by 11 bani and will cost 29.53 lei per liter, while diesel fuel will increase by 1.10 lei to 32.10 lei per liter.
This is almost a record. In June 2022, diesel prices in Moldova exceeded the 32 lei per liter mark for the first time in history, being, for example, 32.24 lei on June 17, 2022. And gasoline A-95 at the same time exceeded 33 lei per liter.
The ongoing rally in fuel prices has already borne its first fruits.
Yesterday, many passenger carriers did not take to the routes, protesting against outdated transportation tariffs. According to government data, about 50-60% of flights were canceled in Glodeni district and Balti, while in Soroca the figure reached almost 90%. The situation is similar in the south of the country, where about 83% of flights were canceled.
In response, the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolya, said that the tariff for intercity transportation will increase (for now) from 75 bani to 87 bani per km, while for transportation within district centers – from 85 to 98 bani per km.
In Moldova, the flywheel of inflation has started to spin. Recall, inflation in Moldova in 2022 reached record levels, amounting to 30.24% at the end of the year.
