According to the press service of the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF), the meeting will be held at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. The kick-off time of the match will be announced later.
Almost on equal terms
The national teams of Moldova and Armenia have met four times earlier in friendly matches. In one of them, the Moldovan players won 4:1, the others ended in a draw.
The previous time the rivals played each other was on June 4, 2018. The match, which took place as part of a training camp in Austria, ended in a zero draw.
Preparations for the Nations League
The sparring with Armenia will be the third for Moldova this year – at the end of March, the “tricolor” will have to play friendly matches against Lithuania (March 26) and Cyprus (March 30).
The matches are preparatory before the group stage matches of the Nations League Division C, in which Moldova will compete for promotion with the national teams of Slovakia, Kazakhstan and the Faroe Islands.
Earlier, the head of the coaching staff, Lilian Popescu , announced the expanded squad for the two March matches. Initially, it included 25 players, 10 of whom play in Moldovan clubs and 15 in foreign ones. Later, the list was supplemented with the 26th player – 23-year-old defender Cristian Negru. The footballer, born in Ireland, regained Moldovan citizenship and agreed with the FMF to play for the national team. The player plays for the club “Tranmere Rovers” in the fourth division of the English championship.
