Photos from the drone exercise were published on the Facebook page of the Moldovan Defense Ministry.
The exercise was attended by cadets from the college of the Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy in Chisinau and special forces of the Fulger battalion.
The drones, developed by the Latvian company Atlas Aerospace, are designed for reconnaissance and surveillance.
The scandal with the “Come Back Alive” Foundation and Atlas drone manufacturer
In July 2022, the charity foundation Come Back Alive ordered 100 such drones for the Ukrainian armed forces for €5 million. However, in April 2023, the director of the foundation, Taras Chmut, said that the manufacturer had not fully fulfilled its obligations.
“The situation has not been fully resolved yet, but it was an extremely negative experience. There are serious questions to our special forces, and huge claims to the manufacturer, who did not fully fulfill his obligations.”
Commenting on the situation for the Ukrainian press, Atlas said that as of 2023 it is in the process of fulfilling its obligations to the Come Back Alive Foundation and has reached agreements with Taras Chmut to complete the deliveries.
