The jubilee international music festival "Mărcisor 2026" starts in Chisinau
The opening ceremony will take place at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” with the premiere of the musical “Maria Mirabela” – the first full musical performance produced entirely in Moldova. The production is dedicated to the great composer Eugeni Doga and poet Grigori Vieru, whose works have become an integral part of the country’s cultural heritage. This is especially symbolic, as the premiere will take place on the birthday of Eugeni Doga, who has always been an integral part of Mărcisor, but unfortunately passed away last year. But his works will always adorn the festival.
The organizers invite the audience to symphonic and chamber concerts, opera and ballet performances, as well as choreographic productions with the participation of leading national-level ensembles: the Organ Hall, the Serghei Lunkevich National Philharmonic, the Maria Bieshu National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the JOC State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble.
The Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan emphasized in a TV program that this festival is not just a cultural event, but “a space where artists and public meet, where people who may not know each other breathe in the same rhythm for a few hours.
The slogan of the festival is “The Joy of Being Together” – reflecting both the idea of cultural integration and international exchange, and the desire to support artists after difficult years of pandemic and economic instability.
