From April 2025. The Ministry of Finance is introducing an important change in the process of issuing government securities (GS) through the eVMS.md platform. The frequency of issuance broadcasts will become monthly instead of quarterly, as it has been until now.
This change gives investors (individuals) the opportunity to participate in VMS placement sessions every month throughout the year. In this way, the government hopes to boost the domestic credit market at the expense of the public.
Three VMS sessions are scheduled for the second quarter of 2025: April 21-30, May 19-28 and June 16-25.
In addition, the repayment options for VMS will be diversified. For the first time, 3-year fixed-rate government bonds will be introduced along with the existing 2-year fixed-rate bonds.
The eVMS.md platform was launched in the fall of 2024 and allows direct transactions (without intermediaries and commissions) for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, located in the country or abroad, but who have opened a bank account in the country.
The volume of investments in state bonds during the subscription period, launched through the platform, more than tripled the indicative volume of the initial issue, reaching 150.9 million lei. Citizens invested 104.5 million lei in state bonds with a maturity of one year and a yield of 6.85% (30.7% of the total volume) and 46.3 million lei in state bonds with a maturity of two years and a yield of 6.77%.
