Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, former head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhniy
According to the Ukrainian ambassador and former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, the production complex belongs to Ukrspecsystems, “whose drones have long proved their effectiveness in high-tech warfare”. The company’s engineering center will remain in Ukraine, while production lines will be moved to the UK.
“Launching production in the UK has a deep strategic logic. It is not a shift of the center of gravity from Ukraine. It is an expansion of our common capabilities and the creation of a second loop of sustainability, which guarantees the continuity of production,” the Ukrainian ambassador emphasized, recalling that “Ukraine is fighting in the face of constant missile strikes, destruction of infrastructure and threat to production facilities.”
Thus, the allies not only support each other, but also form a common industrial security base, Zaluzhny added.
The joint production was announced in the summer of 2025
The agreement on joint production between Ukraine and the UK was announced in late June 2025 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. According to the Ukrainian president, such cooperation will help Ukraine “receive stable funding for important projects”, primarily the production of interceptor drones and attack UAVs.
