The Army is reforming the reserve training system

In addition to the mixed system of manning the National Army with contract and conscript soldiers, all men between the ages of 18 and 55 will undergo compulsory military training at the state's expense. Women will be able to participate voluntarily. The training will last up to 6 weeks.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the concept of revising the current system of training the Armed Forces Reserve and preparing citizens to defend the homeland.

According to Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii, the goal of the concept is to increase the number of trained conscripts, strengthen the army’s operational capabilities and create a reserve capable of responding quickly to threats.

“This involves creating a trained reserve capable of acting effectively in crisis situations, whether military or emergency, as well as strengthening the operational capabilities of the National Army,” the ministry said in a statement.

After analyzing suggestions and comments from the public, the draft concept will be finalized and submitted for approval. Last week, the draft was discussed with representatives of defense sector units, members of specialized public organizations and veterans’ associations, as well as experts.

“We are striving to find the best solutions for the effective implementation of this concept. I am sure that together we will be able to create a document that meets the real needs of people, as well as our strategic goals for the long term,” Anatoliy Nosatiy said.

Within the framework of the concept, amendments will be made to the Law on the Armed Forces Reserve, the Law on Preparing Citizens to Defend the Homeland, the Law on Material Liability of Servicemen and the Law on the Status of Servicemen.
