This data is provided by the Chief Inspectorate of Police in connection with the tragic death of a child in a building of an abandoned hotel in the evening of November 6. At an operative meeting, Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban demanded that security guards be installed and access to abandoned and emergency buildings in Chisinau be restricted. At the same time, he recalled that the hotel is privately owned, while the appeals to the relevant ministries and the government to nationalize the object and deal with its fate remained unanswered.
Meanwhile, on the territory of Chisinau, there are a lot of both public and private buildings that are in a state of disrepair and are dangerous. The General Mayor proposes the government to unite and find immediate solutions. As for the public buildings – to install guards to limit the access to them. And for private buildings, find a legal solution obliging the owners to provide guards or other security mechanisms.
During the period 2022-2025. The Police Inspectorate of the Center sector has repeatedly sent notifications to the Chisinau Mayor’s Office, the Center sector pretura, the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office and the management company, demanding to enclose the building, block access to the upper floors, install warning signs and ensure security. In the last three years alone, 19 notices and 34 prescriptions were sent. However, no effective measures were taken, which led to the tragedy. Most importantly, the potential danger of such facilities remains.
