The State Tax Service reports that taxpayers have recently been receiving messages via WhatsApp accompanied by documents allegedly issued by the STS regarding “confirmation of payment of tax liabilities” or “right to receive transfers”.

In this context, the State Tax Service clarifies: the messages and documents are fraudulent and the name of the institution is illegally used by attackers in order to mislead taxpayers and obtain data or financial means from them.

In this context, the State Tax Service emphasizes that it never forwards official documents via WhatsApp or other messengers. The office does not request confirmations or actions through third parties, nor does it request confirmation codes or sensitive data through messages or calls. STS transmits tax information only through official and secure channels.

Therefore, experts recommend taxpayers to ignore such messages and not to call back on received requests, not to follow links and not to transfer personal or financial data.

And also check any information on the official website of the tax service www.sfs.md and on the official pages of the institution in social networks.
