According to the government’s press release, in 2024, when chicken egg shipments to the European market first began, the total volume of shipments amounted to 9,000 pieces. On July 1, 2025, exports had already reached 10,777,060 pieces.
At the same time, egg shipments to non-EU markets have also increased. While 6,421,680 eggs were exported in 2022, in the first six months of this year the number of eggs exported almost doubled to 12,229,560.
On the other hand, egg production has also increased to meet domestic demand, leading to a significant reduction in egg imports. Over the last four years, the volume of egg imports has decreased by more than 20 times. While Moldova imported 18,280,800 eggs in 2022, only 868,160 eggs were imported this year.
Moldova obtained the right to export consumer eggs (category A) to the EU market in 2023, and the first batch was delivered to the European market in October 2024.
