Such data was presented by the director of the Association of Exporters and Importers of Agricultural and Grain Products Agrocereale, Iurie Rija, noting that even in the conditions of recession, the rates of sunflower exports remained high during the summer months. Compared to the same period in 2023 (20 thousand tons) and 2022 (19.6 thousand tons), the volume of supplies was higher, which confirms Moldova’s position as an active supplier on the regional market. Usually in these months the last shipments of the previous season are sold and storage facilities for the new crop are prepared.
According to Iurie Rija, a distinctive feature of 2025 is the increase in the average export price of sunflower, which reached 10.84 lei/kg, which is higher than in 2024 (9.18 lei/kg) and 2023 (9.14 lei/kg). The growth is due to the increase in exports of sunflower for sowing. The total value of sunflower exports in July-August 2025 amounted to 270 million lei, which is almost the same as in the previous year (279.6 million lei). In fact, the revenue remained unchanged, despite the decrease in physical volumes.
Agrocereale director emphasized that in the ranking of sunflower exporters in July-August 2025. The 1st place was taken by the processor Trans Oil Refinery from Ceadir Lunga – 5918 tons (24% of the total volume). In 2nd place was Rusagro-Prim – with 3408 tons (14%), followed by Demir Agro – 2593 tons (10%), Crown – 2592 tons (10%) and Crist-Valg – 2304 tons. (9%).
Romania remained the main destination partner, accounting for 16.3 thousand tons of Moldovan sunflower (2/3 of exports). Spain ranked 2nd – 1.6 thousand tons, and Turkey ranked 3rd – 1.4 thousand tons.
