State order for universities: budget places will be distributed differently

The corresponding decision was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, approving the state order for higher education. It includes 5,295 budgetary places for licensing, 2,856 for master’s studies, 435 for residency and clinical residency. Another 126 places are reserved for foreign citizens on the basis of bilateral agreements in the education sector and to encourage foreign students to continue their studies in Moldova.

For the first time this year, budgetary places are provided for dual education, which combines university studies with practical work experience in companies. Budgetary places for this form of education are reserved for the following fields: journalism and communication sciences, economic sciences, information and communication technologies, engineering and engineering activity, architecture and construction.

Another innovation is that a certain number of budgetary places will be reserved for young people from families of Moldovan citizens living abroad.

Education Minister Dan Perciun said that this admission plan completes the “Study in Moldova” campaign to promote studies in our country’s universities. “Over the last four years, more than 500 million lei have been invested in our universities. We try to create decent conditions and we are waiting for all 12th grade graduates in Moldovan universities, which are in the process of modernization.”

The admission to licentiate and integrated higher education will be carried out in 25 general directions. The most budgetary places are reserved for the following directions: pedagogical sciences – 2020 places (23%); engineering, production technologies, architecture and construction – 1402 places (16,1%); information and communication technologies – 905 places (10,4%); health care – 950 places (10,9%); agriculture, forestry, veterinary science, environment – 378 places (4,3%).

As in the previous year, documents for the entrance competition will be submitted online. Candidates will be able to choose a maximum of three universities, three specialties in each.
