“We want schools to be places where reading helps children better understand the world and express themselves, not just to fulfill the curriculum,” said Education and Research Minister Dan Perchun.
The first literature labs will be launched in 25 schools in the capital. They will be selected through an open competition for which institutions should apply electronically to the address: [email protected] by April 21. The winners will be announced on April 30.
Literature labs will allow students to study literature outside the school curriculum through creative writing, translation, journalism, theater productions and media projects.
Austrian Ambassador Stella Avallone promised to provide schools with a collection of novels and works by Nobel Prize winners in literature.
