This is in addition to the existing X-ray system for small vehicle inspection and a scanner for baggage inspection.
“Between July 7 and July 9, 2025, the Romanian Customs Service put into operation a stationary X-ray system for the inspection of heavy vehicles (trucks/containers), which, together with the X-ray system for the inspection of small vehicles and the luggage control scanner, complemented the equipment of the Albica Border Customs with modern scanning systems,” the Romanian Customs Service said.
The Albica customs point is the largest on the border with the Republic of Moldova and the second most equipped customs point after the Siret border customs point.
“By introducing these scanning systems, the Romanian Customs Service continues its efforts to create a modern customs office in line with European standards, capable of meeting current challenges and ensuring an optimal balance between security and smoothness of cross-border traffic,” the agency said.
The mobile X-ray scanning system for heavy vehicles, which has been operating in Albica so far, will be moved to the Constanta border customs office, where it will be used until the installation of the stationary X-ray scanning system for heavy vehicles is completed.
