Romanian company will help Moldovan SMEs to manage waste
“Right now, most of our customers are SMEs and that makes us happy because we are helping exactly those entrepreneurs who need it most. I think the potential of the app is a few thousand users, which means it could quickly grow to 5,000 users, which we would be very excited about and that’s what we’re aiming for. We want to reach 2,000 users by the end of the year and gradually aim for 5,000,” said Valentin Krantsevik, one of the developers, in an interview zf.ro.
“We want to create apps that help small, medium and large entrepreneurs. We have clients of different sizes, but we see that there is quite a big need for SMEs in this area, because enterprise applications are very expensive for them and they need optimal solutions at affordable prices. That’s why we entered this market and we want to continue to help them,” explained Kranzevik.
Valentin Krantsevik, an environmental engineer by profession, says that although keeping records of waste has been mandatory for many years now, they faced the fact that many entrepreneurs and managers were not aware of this law. In fact, it was the lack of information that was the main problem in developing this business. “We noticed that more than 80-90% of the market didn’t know about this obligation, or if they did, it was something vague and complicated, and they said, ‘I’d better not do it, it’s complicated for me, I don’t know’.” And with the Waste Registry application, we have greatly simplified the process of fulfilling this obligation”.
“There were other apps on the market, we tried to use them in our business, but it was difficult because we needed a solution that was accessible to our employees.” Essentially, the three young men have simplified the waste registration process. After each waste drop-off, they need to enter the quantity, type of waste, select a drop-off date, save the information and simply upload the file for an annual report to the Environment Agency. Customers of the waste registration system are companies from such areas as retail, medicine, HoReCa, construction, industry, etc. The three young people started the development of the app with about 50,000 euros, but over time the investment continued, totaling more than 300,000 euros.
Entrepreneurs from the neighboring country do not stop there. They are scrutinizing the Moldovan market as it complies with the Romanian rules adopted in the European Union.
“We are also looking at other, more developed markets where there are not yet solutions for waste management documentation management, such as Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic. These are not very big markets, but they can be developed. We want to expand our business abroad, but we are also strengthening our position here and probably this year we will make some attempts in the Republic of Moldova as well,” said Valentin Crantsevik.
According to the Moldovan Environmental Protection Agency, more than 11,000 enterprises submit annual waste reports.
