The Romanian government has decided to reduce excise duty on diesel fuel. This was announced by Prime Minister Ilie Bolhogan. “We are focusing on diesel fuel, because it is the one on which prices are rising the most,” he was quoted Romanian prime minister by the Digi24 TV channel. – Diesel accounts for more than 70% of fuel consumption. Our step-by-step actions in this area will have an impact on two-thirds of Romanian car owners.”

At the same time, there is no talk of reducing excise taxes on gasoline.

This is the first step to overcome the rise in energy prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East. A temporary reduction in excise duty on diesel will be in effect for three months. At the same time, the preferential scheme for agrarians has been extended, the Romanian Prime Minister said.

In addition, as Ilie Bolozhan noted, it was decided to create a “solidarity fund,” which will be replenished from “part of the excess profits” of the oil market participants. The funds accumulated in the fund will help to adjust prices at gas stations for end consumers.
