It is about the delivery of 92 thousand tons of Azerbaijani crude oil contaminated with organic chlorides. This was reported to the country’s Ministry of Energy by OMV Petrom.
Thus, from July 16 to 18, the company received a ship with Azerbaijani crude oil loaded in the port of Ceyhan (Turkey). The shipment turned out to be contaminated. As a result, Petrom decided to refuse loading of another batch of 92,000 tons.
For continuous operation of OMV’s refinery, Petrom requested the unloading of 80,000 tons of crude oil and 30,000 tons of diesel fuel from emergency stocks.
And the declaration of a state of emergency was necessary to utilize the fuel reserves.
The Ministry of Energy notified the European Commission of the emergency and authorized unloading from emergency stocks, saying it “ensured uninterrupted operation of the refinery and avoided disruptions in the national fuel market”.
