The initiative is part of the partnership between the environment ministries of the two countries, said Diana Buzoianu, quoted by jurnalul.ro.

The campaign marks the beginning of the forest planting season in Romania and coincides with Forest Month, a period annually dedicated to forestry work carried out by foresters throughout the country.

“In Romania, the tree planting season begins, namely Forest Month, the period when foresters from all over the country start reforestation works. In parallel, we continue the reforestation projects financed by the National Forest Fund, in which we start planting in important areas in Romania. This year we also celebrate an important moment of cooperation between the states: the partnership between the Romanian and Moldovan Environment Ministries,” Diana Buzoianu wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

According to the announcement, the planting will start on the Romanian bank of the Prut River with the participation of the company Romsilva, after which the work will continue on the territory of the Republic of Moldova together with specialists from Moldova.

The initiative is scheduled for March 14.

Recall that Moldova has launched a large-scale reforestation campaign, which aims to create 145,000 hectares of new forests across the country by 2032. State and international partners (AFD, EIB, ADA, World Bank, UNDP, FAO and the European Union) will invest 740 million euros in it.

However, no such organizing event as Forest Month has yet been registered in the country.
