The watch combines sophisticated mechanics with functionality geared towards fans of the planet’s most popular game.
Unlike the brand’s previous sports models – RM 11-01 and RM 11-04 Roberto Mancini – the new version has received a fundamentally different level of technical development, writes Robb Report.
The watch is based on a fully skeletonized caliber, the development of which took about five years. The movement was created in collaboration with Audemars Piguet and is made of titanium. It is equipped with a tourbillon, a flyback chronograph and a central display of minutes and seconds.
How to follow matches
The main feature of the RM 41-01 is the match time indicator placed at the 9 o’clock mark. It allows you to keep track of the current game period: first and second halves, as well as extra time. Each time the chronograph is reset, the system automatically switches the phase of the match.
Complementing the soccer concept are the mechanical goal counters located around the perimeter of the movement. Using the buttons at 2 and 4 o’clock, the owner can record the goals of each team – the scale is designed for nine goals, after which the hand returns to the starting position. The power reserve of 70 hours allows the watch to function without winding for several game days.
The case is made in the trademark Richard Mille barrel shape and is as lightweight as possible to better showcase the internal architecture. The model is available in two versions: in burgundy basalt TPT (a volcanic rock-based material resistant to UV light, chemical attack and corrosion) and in navy blue quartz TPT. Microbrushed PVD-coated bridges provide contrast and improve the readability of the skeletonized movement.
The RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer is produced in a limited edition of only 30 pieces. Given the sophisticated technical solutions and the limited edition, it is not surprising that the model is already claiming the status of a collector’s rarity. It is likely to be seen on the wrists of soccer stars and wealthy sports fans around the world in the near future.
