This is 29% less than the figures for 2023 (5.4 billion RON or 20.78 billion MDL). At the same time, it should be noted that the fall in the profitability of Moldovan business in Romania occurred before the tightening of tax rules over the Prut River, which took place this summer.
There are 5424 companies registered in Romania with shareholders from the Republic of Moldova. On average, these companies had 5,536 employees in 2024, the lowest number since 2008.
According to termene.ro, the net profit of these companies in 2024 amounted to 285 million Romanian lei (1.01 billion MDL), down 13% from 323 million RON (1.24 billion MDL) in 2023.
The largest Moldovan companies in Romania are Unicom Holding SA, Moldmetal Trading, Unicom Tranzit, MMS Minerals & Metals Solutions and Fly Airlines SRL.
