As noted in the information of the State Tax Service, in January this year in the STS was registered 3,500 contracts for the lease of real estate to other individuals. This is 32.7% more than in the same period a year earlier.
As a result of measures taken by the tax authority to inform and voluntary compliance with the legislation by taxpayers, 106 individuals renting out or using real estate were identified in the first month of 2026.
Besides, as a result of tax audits, 160 individuals renting out real estate were additionally imposed basic payments – in the amount of 89.1 thousand lei, penalties for their delay – 3.8 thousand lei and fines – 8.4 thousand lei.
The State Tax Service has traditionally presented data by regions. The first four in terms of the amount of income tax paid to the budget in January 2026 from the rental of real estate, were Chisinau municipality with 2224 contracts. The amount of budget revenues in the capital amounted to 8.41 million lei.
Balti municipality registered 205 contracts (388.8 thousand lei), Cahul – 164 contracts (132.2 thousand lei) and Ungheni – 55 contracts (82.5 thousand lei).
