Real wage growth in 2025 amounted to 1.8%

The average accrued wage in the economy amounted to 15,472 lei in 2025, increasing, compared to 2024, by 9.8% in nominal terms and by 1.9% in real terms.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the average accrued salary reached MDL 16,355. This is 8.9% more than in the fourth quarter of 2024 and 5.6% higher than in the previous quarter. Adjusted for inflation, the real growth of salaries in annual terms (calculated as the ratio of the nominal accrued wage index to the consumer price index) amounted to 1.8%.

These data are provided by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The highest average salaries at the end of the year were recorded in the information and communication sector – 37,144 lei, in financial and insurance activity – 30,146 lei, as well as in production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and hot water – 25,405 lei. The lowest indicators were recorded in agriculture – 10,776 lei, in accommodation and catering – 11,432 lei and in arts and entertainment – 12,397 lei.

In the budgetary sector, the average salary in the fourth quarter amounted to 14,256 lei, which is 10.9% more than a year ago. In the real sector, it reached 17,079 lei, up by 8.3%.

The average number of employees increased by 1.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. The highest employment growth was recorded in construction and accommodation and catering, while decreases were recorded in transportation and warehousing, information and communication and administrative services.

We would like to remind you that for the current year, the average monthly salary in the economy is forecasted at 17,400 lei. The minimum wage in the country from January 1, 2026 will be 6,300 lei.
