This week, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft on a new information resource that is being developed to fulfill the Law on the Petroleum Products Market.
The initiative is aimed at providing a more transparent mechanism of control and compliance with environmental specifications for petroleum products, in accordance with European Union standards.
The implementation of this system will be financially supported by the project “Competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises”, financed by the World Bank. The estimated budget will be about 350 thousand lei.
The verification will be carried out, in accordance with the National Monitoring Plan. The explanatory note to the project notes that the system will ensure the selection of filling stations by control periods (winter, summer) for each region (north, center, south). And it will also set the number of visits that can be carried out during the monitoring period. The procedure provides for random checks by analyzing samples of gasoline and diesel fuel at filling stations and oil depots in different regions of the country.
The new information system will ensure unbiased selection of filling stations, thus ensuring reliable monitoring. It is also an important environmental protection measure.
