Such a provision is contained in a bill drafted by MPs of the PDS faction. Today it was approved in parliament in the first reading.
The document will significantly expand the access of labor veterans to balneo-sanatorial treatment. It provides for the abolition of legislative restrictions currently in force for retired labor veterans who continue to work or engage in entrepreneurial activities.
Thanks to this, all labor veterans, including those who continue to work, will be entitled to a discounted trip once every three years – either as insured persons at their main place of work or as a labor veteran.
In the explanatory note to the draft, the authors note that the change is necessary to eliminate discrimination arising in respect of this category of labor veterans. The status of an employee should not limit access to such social benefits.
According to statistical data, there are over 120,000 labor veterans in Moldova, of which about 83,000 continue to work. Last year, 4,965 sanatorium vouchers were used for a total of over 57 million lei.
The draft law is to be approved by parliament in the second reading.
