“We have discovered a very competitive natural gas market after being dependent on Gazprom, the sole supplier, for 30 years of independence,” Popshoy said in an interview Newsmax.
“Now we have zero dependence on Russian gas and we buy gas on the international market,” the deputy prime minister said. – Several times we have purchased American LNG. There are LNG terminals in Greece, as well as in Gdansk and Lithuania. “There is a very competitive natural gas market, which we discovered after our dependence on the Russian energy giant Gazprom – the only supplier for 30 years of our independence.”
The Foreign Minister recalled that Russia used to be able to dictate the terms of gas supplies, but today, he emphasized, the situation is fundamentally different, and “we are not going to return to the vulnerability we have faced over the past 30 years”.
“Now we have full transparency and full accountability in energy security issues, and this puts us in a more stable position,” Popshoy said.
