PMI’s financial report shows that by 2025, the company’s smokeless products are present in 106 markets, of which every fourth market has all three of Philip Morris’ smokeless products in its portfolio.

Europe demonstrated a resilient performance in the smokeless category, despite the decline in the cigarette category. Cigarettes declined by 3.9%, while smokeless products grew by 7.6%. Italy, Germany, Greece, Greece, Romania, Spain are the countries driving the growth in the heated tobacco products category.

Oral nicotine products remain a key element in PMI’s expanding smokeless portfolio. With a presence in 55 markets, volumes of nicotine sachets shipped globally grew by 18.5% for the full year.

PMI-branded refillable e-cigarettes continued to accelerate, with volumes shipped for the full year more than doubling. Available in 47 markets, the product achieved the leading (#1) position in refillable systems with exchangeable pods, notably in Europe and Indonesia.

PMI’s financial report also showed that, globally, the number of adult smokeless consumers was estimated at 43.5 million by December 2025.

In the Republic of Moldova, heated tobacco products were launched in 2018, with the company continuously investing in expanding its portfolio, team and consumer services.

“We are committed to our mission – a smoke-free future. We will responsibly continue to expand our portfolio of innovative alternatives. We are convinced that adult smokers in Moldova, as in all other markets, have the right to information and alternative products to conventional cigarettes,” said Tatiana Scîntian, manager of the Smoke-Free Products Department at Philip Morris Moldova.

Over the past two years, Philip Morris Moldova has invested more than $3 million in the market in the smokeless products category, and in 2026, the company aims to continue this investment path by expanding the infrastructure dedicated to consumer services, intensifying programs for the collection and recycling of used devices, as well as developing the team.

“Innovations play an essential role in society. They change consumers’ lives, open new market opportunities, accelerate growth and change the future. At Philip Morris, we are open to share our studies and research to have a constructive dialog with society and stakeholders,” Tatiana Scîntian added.

Since 2008, Philip Morris International has invested more than $16 billion dollars in the development, research and commercialization of smokeless products for adult smokers, who would otherwise continue to smoke.
